Jennifer Lawrence on first nude scene since hacked picture leak: From ‘terrified’ to ’empowered’ – Washington Publish

Posted in Trending Topics on 26th February 2018

Jennifer Lawrence’s life modified in 2014 when hackers stole a trove of the actress’s personal nude pictures and revealed them — together with the personal photographs of a number of different actresses — on the message board 4chan.

“When the hacking factor occurred, it was so unbelievably violating that you may’t even put it into phrases,” Lawrence informed the Hollywood Reporter. “… There’s not one particular person on the earth that isn’t able to seeing these intimate photographs of me. You may simply be at a barbecue and someone can simply pull them up on their cellphone. That was a very inconceivable factor to course of.”

Since then, she’s typically averted taking roles that require intercourse or nude scenes. As she informed W journal, “I’ve all the time been like, ‘Completely no approach’ — particularly after what occurred — ‘no approach am I ever going to do something sexual.’”

However then she learn the script for “Crimson Sparrow,” a film that hits theaters Friday. It options Lawrence as a Russian ballerina attending a form of spy faculty, the place she trains to develop into an intelligence agent who typically makes use of her sexuality to realize her objectives.

The position required a superb little bit of nudity, one thing Lawrence needed to come to phrases with, as she mentioned with Invoice Whitaker on “60 Minutes” on Sunday.

Lawrence’s discomfort round scenes that includes intercourse and nudity is properly documented. Earlier than filming her first actual intercourse scene with Chris Pratt within the 2016 movie “Passengers,” Lawrence bought “actually, actually drunk” to calm her nerves, she has stated. She was uncomfortable as a result of Pratt was married in actual life. It wasn’t an awesome resolution.

The ingesting “led to extra anxiousness once I bought residence as a result of I used to be like, ‘What have I accomplished? I don’t know,’” she stated at a roundtable dialogue hosted by the Hollywood Reporter in 2015. “I knew it was my job, however I couldn’t inform my abdomen that.”

Being drunk for everything of “Crimson Sparrow” wasn’t an choice. So she centered on what bothered her about showing bare on display screen: the truth that the selection to be seen nude had beforehand been taken from her when her personal photographs leaked.

“I learn this script that I’m dying to do, and the one factor that’s getting in my approach is nudity,” Lawrence informed Whitaker. “And I spotted there’s a distinction between consent and never.”

That isn’t to say it was straightforward.

“The night time earlier than, I didn’t sleep in any respect and I used to be clearly actually nervous as a result of it’s the precise nightmare of standing in entrance of a classroom bare,” she informed At this time Australia.

It didn’t assist that in a single scene, freezing water is poured on her naked pores and skin.

“I used to be terrified. I don’t suppose I’ve ever been so petrified of doing a film earlier than in my life. It was lots of firsts for me,” she stated. “Cool, so I’m actually bare getting freezing chilly water poured on me.”

No matter her worry, as she informed Whitaker, “I confirmed up for the primary day, and I did it.”

She stated that she “felt empowered” by filming the nude scenes, as if she’d regained a part of herself.

“I really feel like one thing that was taken from me I bought again and am utilizing in my artwork,” Lawrence stated. “However I did really feel like I took the ability out of getting my physique taken from me. I felt like I took it again, and I may virtually personal it once more.”

“Nudity by alternative is a very completely different factor from being violated,” she informed Whole Movie. “This was my alternative, and it was for my craft. It’s vital to recollect that there’s a distinction.”

Lawrence was initially anxious about how audiences would react. When she bared her breasts in Vainness Truthful simply weeks after the picture leak, some derided her and known as her hypocritical.

And final week, the actress needed to defend her option to put on a Versace costume with a plunging neckline and thigh-high slit for a photograph shoot in chilly London. She finally determined she simply didn’t care.

“It’s my physique, and it’s my artwork, and it’s my alternative,” Lawrence informed Whitaker, including, “And in the event you don’t like boobs, you shouldn’t go see ‘Crimson Sparrow.’”

Gus Kenworthy’s Fast Olympic Kiss Is Really A Actually Large Deal – HuffPost

Posted in Trending Topics on 18th February 2018

20 months in the past, on a Sunday morning kind of like at present, I woke as much as a telephone name from HuffPost’s Nationwide Editor informing me lone shooter at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, murdered 49 folks, most of them queer folks of coloration.

A number of hours later, in the course of the determined hunt for a motive that follows each seemingly mindless atrocity just like the one which unfolded in these early June hours, the assailant’s father informed reporters that his was son “very offended” on the sight of two males kissing weeks earlier than the taking pictures, saying that might have been part of his son’s motive.

Heartbroken, enraged and searching for some option to course of what had occurred, I wrote a chunk arguing that regardless of the victories the LGBTQ neighborhood had secured lately, a homosexual kiss ― even in 2016 ― was nonetheless thought of a surprising, terrifying sight for too many individuals. I additionally argued that it was, in gentle of that devastatingly sobering truth, completely crucial for queer folks to proceed kissing each time and wherever they may.

Others felt equally, and HuffPost Queer Voices launched a #KeepKissing hashtag on social media that quickly included hundreds of queer and non-queer folks proudly kissing same-gender companions, associates, coworkers and even strangers. The marketing campaign despatched a message to each allies and enemies that this easy, stunning demonstration of affection should be thought of disgusting by too many individuals ― and was due to this fact nonetheless a dangerous public act ― however, regardless of the very actual and probably harmful penalties that might observe even probably the most harmless of shows of affection, we’d not be ashamed; we’d be paralyzed by our concern and we’d not cease kissing.

This morning I woke as much as a photograph of Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy kissing his boyfriend earlier than a qualifying run in Sunday’s slopestyle occasion in Pyeongchang, South Korea:

I, in fact, had a really totally different response to seeing this picture than I did to the information I obtained virtually two years in the past; however after my preliminary exhilaration subsided, I couldn’t assist however assume how gorgeous it nonetheless is to see two males kissing in public.

In some methods, sadly, it might be much more gorgeous than it was in 2016 contemplating the America we’re struggling to make sense of proper now: a rustic that, for the primary time for the reason that inception of GLAAD’s Accelerating Acceptance examine 4 years in the past, is reportedly experiencing a “swift and alarming” drop in general acceptance of LGBTQ folks. The report additionally discovered a “vital” enhance within the variety of queer individuals who have been discriminated in opposition to due to their sexual orientation or gender identification.

Much more disturbing, there was a 400 % enhance in hate-motivated homicides in opposition to cisgender queer, homosexual, and bisexual people from 2016 to 2017, in accordance with the Nationwide Coalition of Anti-Violence Applications. In the meantime, violence in opposition to transgender girls of coloration continues to extend, and tragic headlines describing deadly assaults on black lesbians and their households introduced within the new 12 months.

This information, whereas surprising, shouldn’t be stunning contemplating who’s within the White Home and what has transpired within the final 12 months. Since coming into workplace, President Donald Trump and his administration have rescinded protections for queer folks, nominated virulently anti-queer judges and politicians and overtly supported ― or, in some instances, even advocated for ― anti-LGBTQ rhetoric on a nationwide scale, all of which has made the already perilous existence of being queer in America much more perilous as we trudge additional and additional into Trump’s presidency.

Which is why pictures just like the one in all Kenworthy and his boyfriend are extra essential than ever ― and never simply in America however in so many components of the world the place being queer is taken into account deviant, prison and even punishable by loss of life.

The apparently unplanned kiss (his boyfriend jokingly insisted “if I’d have identified it was a giant deal, I’d have made out with him”) is simply the most recent transfer by Kenworthy, who, together with fellow Olympian and buddy Adam Rippon, has used the Olympics as a possibility to defy the anti-queer rhetoric popping out of the Trump administration, particularly from Vice President Mike Pence, who attended the opening of the 2018 Winter Video games.

“To have the ability to try this, to provide [my boyfriend] a kiss, to have that affection broadcast to the world, is unbelievable,” Kenworthy stated. “The one option to actually change perceptions, to interrupt down boundaries, break down homophobia, is thru illustration. That’s positively not one thing I had as a child. I by no means noticed a homosexual athlete kissing their boyfriend on the Olympics. I believe if I had, it might’ve made it simpler for me.”

And whereas Kenworthy and Rippon would in all probability argue that they’re merely being precisely who they’re after they aren’t competing ― or underneath the highlight ― on the world stage, their use of those alternatives to make an announcement (even unknowingly) have been nothing wanting thrilling and matter greater than ever.

As a lot as I look ahead to the day when queer kisses could be as ho-hum and apolitical as non-queer kisses; so long as they nonetheless aren’t, we should proceed to maintain kissing, telling our tales and being whoever we’re each time attainable with out providing excuses or apologies ― not solely to indicate our enemies that regardless of our very justifiable fears, we received’t be terrorized into silence and aren’t going wherever, but in addition within the hope that it would startle even one queer particular person into realizing that there might be a spot for them on this planet the place they’ll transfer past the already exhausting each day process of merely surviving and might really safe a life for his or her self crammed with all the issues ― from actually equal rights to a fast peck the lips ― that make life value dwelling.

Tippi Hedren claims Alfred Hitchcock sexually assaulted her

Writing in her autobiography, she claimed the director “threw himself” on top of her in the back of his limousine and tried to kiss her.

The actress described the encounter as “an awful, awful moment”.

Hedren added that she did not tell anyone because “sexual harassment and stalking were terms that did not exist” in the early 1960s.

She continued: “Besides, he was Alfred Hitchcock, one of Universal’s superstars, and I was just a lucky little blonde model he had rescued from relative obscurity. Which one of us was more valuable to the studio, him or me?”

Hedren appeared in The Birds in 1963 and the following year starred in Marnie – both of which were directed by Hitchcock.

The actress, now 86, made the claims in her autobiography Tippi: A Memoir, which is published in November.

She has spoken in the past about the director’s alleged treatment of her, but has gone into more detail in the memoir.

Hedren described a later encounter in Hitchcock’s office where the director “suddenly grabbed” her and “put his hands” on her.

She wrote: “It was sexual, it was perverse, and it was ugly, and I could not have been more shocked and more repulsed.

“The harder I fought him, the more aggressive he became. Then he started adding threats, as if he could do anything to me that was worse than what he was trying to do at that moment.”

After refusing his demands, Hedren said Hitchcock “looked directly into my eyes, his face red with rage, and promised, ‘I will ruin your career.'”

The actress said Hitchcock then made her life difficult, refusing to submit her work for the Oscar nominations or let her take on other acting roles while he still had her under contract.

Hedren, whose daughter Melanie Griffith is also an actress, said: “I have made it my mission ever since to see to it that while Hitchcock may have ruined my career, I never gave him the power to ruin my life.”

She went on to say that, despite his treatment of her, she felt “a wave of sadness” when he died in 1980.

“It surprised everyone that I went to Hitchcock’s funeral,” she wrote, adding: “As far as I was concerned, there was no unfinished business between us, nothing more that needed to be said.

“I had already healed and moved on by the time Hitchcock died, far past anything I had ever imagined for myself. So in the end, I was there to say, ‘Goodbye, and thank you, Hitch.'”
